The Art of Friendship
My all time favorite artist is a guy called Laro Verz.
A master of the scribble and the doodle universe.
His work is very simple but complex all the same.
He can draw somethin' in seconds and it looks like it took days.
He has a way with colors, that's timeless and wise and looking at his work makes
me feel happy I'm alive.
I know that that sounds cheesy, but I promise that it's true, and anyways isn't that what art's
supposed to do?
You probably think I'm biased 'cause I know Loro Verz, we met many years ago when
we were both at work.
Handin' out flyers for a little indie club,.
I'm not sure when exactly, maybe 2001.
Well we became friends quickly and then Loro went home, because he was Brazillian
and lived in San Palo.
Picture me a chicken picture her a bumblebee.
He drew a heart for both of us and give it to me for free.
The art is in the friendship, the friendship in the art.
Create a reason to create, if nothin' it's a start.
Well Loro and I we stayed in touch while life streched out his canvas and I watched
from afar at his paintings gettin' noticed from the streets of San Palo to the gallary
walls, he rose up through the art world, he was unstobbable.
He'd sometimes send me pictures or swing by and paint a pub.
He drew the two tattoos for my right arm.
We may have lived on other sides of the globe, but we always stayed in touch that's
the art of friendship folks.
Picture me a chicken picture her a bumblebee.
He drew a heart for both of us and give it to me for free.
The art is in the friendship, the friendship in the art.
Create a reason to create, if nothin' it's a start.
My all time favorite person is a girl named Lizzy Bee.
My wife, my friend, my lover, she's everything I need.
And this year on her birthday she's gonna be turning 30, so I was lookin' out for
a very special something.
I didn't want to spend a fortune, cause that's not what she'd like, she'd rather
me to be creative than to spend a bunch of cash, so I called up an old friend and
asked for a favor and Loro Verz said that he'd paint her a picture.
Picture me a chicken picture her a bumblebee.
He drew a heart for both of us and give it to me for free.
The art is in the friendship, the friendship in the art.
Create a reason to create, if nothin' it's a start.
So now we have a heart hangin' over our bed.
It stands for love, it stands for art, it stands for friendship.
It didn't cost a penny, I swapped it for this song.
So make sure you go and check out Loro's work.
