My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up) - Commentary
Up next is 'My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light 'Em Up)'
This, uh, to me, this song, uh, was I think once we got-
Or when I heard Patrick doing the verse for this song, I kinda was like 'oh'
I think we were all like 'oh, we can build a body of work around this' and I think this was the flagship of what, uh, 'Save Rock and Roll' was gonna be
And there's songs that are more aggressive and there are songs that are less aggressive but they kind of all fit around this
I think up to this point in recording, uh, we had been kinda
Butch Walker, who produced, and the band were kinda feeling each other out
In terms of kinda figuring out what direction we were gonna go with and all those other things
And I think once we- once this, this song kinda fell into place
The whole th- the whole record was easy after that, I feel like
(It was like dominoes)
It was like dominoes because I think it gave us like a blueprint, y'know?
It did definitely set up a sonic blueprint for the record, for sure
The sonic boom
