Crueler Kind - Commentary
Crueler Kind is a direct response to Renaissance.
It's the first time we meet the female character,
and her first line,
"I wouldn't worry,
your melodramas are embarrassing,"
is sort of meant to take the legs out
from under this big drama that the male character
has created in the first song.
This kind of lays out a little bit of the female character's MO,
mainly that she doesn't quite buy into this whole drama
and she's maybe a little bit more jaded.
