Reunion

Faces in a book of faded pictures
Model planes upon the dusty shelves
Memories of the time they rode the thunder
Part of something bigger than themselves

A time when great machines took wing in anger
When strong men set their skills against the foe
In deadly rains of fire and skies of danger
Like none who were not part of it can know

The roll is long in valor's hall of honor
And many fell on far-off, foreign sod
We cherished those who rest in honored glory
And those whose fate is known but to their god

They bravely rose to heed the call of duty
They lived with honor, and in honor, died
Standing in their country's time of trial
To try and stem the dark, oppressing tide

Ten-thousand miles from home and hearth and loved ones
Living in a world they never made
Brothers in a time of blood and dying
A comradeship with bonds that never fade

So here's to Thud, and Phantom, and Skyraider
And here's to Bird Dog, Jolly Green, and Hun!
To the men who flew the skies of South-East Asia
And those friends of ours who flew too near the Sun

Let's remember all the friends who've gone before us
Let's remember both the good times and the scars
We'll all meet at that final great reunion
And we'll fly with angels out beyond the stars
We'll all meet at that final great reunion
And we'll fly with angels out beyond the stars
