I've Gone and Lost My Little Yo Yo

Boys and girls, come out to play
Ay-dee-iddly-dai-dee-day
Boys and girls come out to play
Come with your little yo-yo

Hahaha! Say, Leslie
You do look sorry for yourself

You'd be sorry for yourself if you were in my shoes, it's terrible

I'm sad and disappointed
I'm as sore as I can be
When the missus finds what's happened
She'll be more upset than me!

There'll be no peace for me at home
She's sure to cause a row
I didn't want to tell her
But I'll have to tell her now

For I had it when I left the house at half-past ten
I had it with me, quite all right
I showed it to a policeman at the corner, then
He laughed with all his might

The wife will want to have the game when I get home
But I can't find it, oh no!
It's my unlucky day
What ever will she say
When she finds I've gone and lost my little yo-yo!

I got so good at yo-yo, I could trail it on the ground
I could walk the dog and slip the loop
And swing it 'round and 'round!
I'm simply lost without it, I must get another soon
Because I'm in a competition Friday afternoon!

For I had it when I left the house at half-past ten
I had it on a swing, all right
I showed it to some people at the corner, then
It filled them with delight

The wife will wonder where it is when I get home
But I can't find it, oh no!
I know we'll have to part
She's sure to break her heart
When she finds I've gone and lost my little yo-yo!

You know, it's a funny thing
Everywhere I go nowadays, everyone plays yo-yo
They're either walking the dog, slipping the loop
Doing thick charades or swinging them up and down
One fellow swung one the other day
It went right round my neck and nearly throttled me!
By the way, folks, I was out with a girl the other night
I thought she said "yo-yo" but what she really said was "no, no!"
She had me on a string, alright
She gave me such a smack right across the face
Ee, she was a cheeky cap!

I know she won't forgive me when she finds out what I've done
It's a simple little thing that seems to cause the biggest fun
It seems to be the craze today, no matter where you go
And now you'll hear the sailors shout, "Yo-yo, me lads, yo-yo!"

For I had it when I left the house at half-past ten
I had it with me, quite all right
I showed it to a policeman at the corner, then
He laughed with all his might

My wife will want to have the game when I get home
But I can't find it, oh no!
It's my unlucky day, what ever will she say
When she finds I've gone and lost my little yo-yo!

Boys and girls, come out to play
Ay-dee-iddly-dai-dee-day
Boys and girls, come out to play
Come with your little yo-yo
