Colossus

The sun was dying behind the
mountains' shadows, the teeth of a colossus.
Bleeding its light down the hillside,
we watched the glowing come to an end.
The flames ascend.

Just show me where you are.
I would swallow your darkness.
Place my hands in the fire.

I want to fill my lungs with the smell of damp bark and your name.
The taste of your avalanche and the cold winter tongue on my cheek.
Is it that you stand so tall?
Bloodletting feral ritual,
I painted in the snow a stave to guide you home.
Can you see?

Just show me where you are.
I would swallow your darkness.
Place my hands in the fire.
