Let Me Be (Commentary)

Let me be your first time, let me be your last
Which is a very poppy ballad song
We had to throw in the guitar solo in there, yeah
Because why not?
It's one of my favorite solo-
Balls to the wall on that guitar solo
Hmm-mm
And you know-
I throw a knee slide every time I hear it, yeah

And I'm so against acoustic songs usually on our albums
This one I like so much that I'm just ready to bust out my acoustic guitar and play it
It's one of my favorite tracks on the whole record
And that's the song we show, you know, close family and friends
And they're like, oh my god, this is a really, really good song, yeah
I really like this
My grandmother wonders why all of our songs don't sound like that
Exactly

So his grandma doesn't know that daddy needs to have a breakdown
Daddy needs breakdowns
But I think this song-
I'm like, awesome
Because grandma don't know
Grandma don't know

But I feel like this song really kinda sums up what our attitude for the whole album was
Which was, who cares what the song sounds like as long as we like it
Exactly
Is it too poppy? People are gonna make fun of us
Who cares if you like it

It's our band, we're gonna write music that we enjoy
And that's why we write music to begin with
We had no borders, you know
It was the first song is a full-on true love song
A happy, uplifting song
This is the first time we've skipped a phase and ever written a song like that
