A little time is all you have before you reach the gate

Go walking the camino and hear the ancient songs
Of centuries of mysteries and pilgrims gone before

Walking over mountains by the Bay of Biscay
Walking to Santiago along the Milky Way

From Zamora and Toledo, from Girona and Leon
All roads to Compostela are full of pilgrim songs
And no matter where you come from, no matter where you stay
The way is just the journey and the journey is the way
And when you climb the winding streets of that old Galician town
Go walking in Santiago before the sun goes down

The clock struck the hour
The birds had all flown
Everyone walking by me
Everyone going home
I went down to the station
But the trains had all gone
No-one was waiting
Standing on my own
Like a fish out of water
I jumped out the school
I thought I was clever
But I was just a fool

I never counted my blessings

I was just a bar-room gambler
Shiny as a snake
Eyes sparkling like diamonds
But both of them were fake
, Til I went rolling down the big hill
Without any brakes
Well it just had to happen
For goodness sake
I hit the brick wall flying
It shook me to the bone
They wrapped me up in plastic
but there was no way home

I was looking for salvation
Someone threw me a line
You ask me how
I'm feeling I'll say I'm feeling fine
There's no use to complaining
You only do what you can do
Just do something useful
While you're passing through
Cos you're just passing through

and the stars are shining and the moon is full and I'm walking
I'm walking to Santiago, to Santiago
