Heart Stops - Commentary
Heart Stops shows the greatest progress for us
I feel it is dissimilar to anything we've done in the past
And there was a coldness to the music, I was very deliberate
In taking as much emotion out of the brutally heavy lyric as I could
I kinda wanted to have a really, sort of fuzzy, over-driven sound
For the chorus, so I called my friend Matt, who was in Weezer
And asked him, "What gear did you use on Pinkerton?"
The hope was that it was gonna be like, "Oh, it's simple"
"It's this obscure pedal that I'll let you borrow," or something
You know? It's like, "Nah, it's like this amp they only made one of"
"And I gave it to somebody, and..."
It was a nice try, though
It's definitely, I think, the song on the record that is very not like
The rest of the record, or like anything we've done
I'm very happy with it, because I feel it's something very new for us
And I'm very interested to see what people think of it
