Grandpa Joe

Oodles of time, fish on the line.
Great big smiling face with eyes that shine.
Can't think of anyplace I'll rather be than,
Visiting my Grandpa Joe.

Corned beef on rye, and Gram's apple pie
Picnic basket filled with sweet surprise
I always eat too much and spoil my dinner
Visiting my Grandpa Joe.

It's an education, even on Saturday
He can knot the clothesline ten thousand different ways

Bucket of trout and figuring out
What this country life is all about
I always hate to go back to the city
Visiting my Grandpa Joe.

(Visiting my Grandpa Joe.)

Sometimes he'll tell me stories of Dad as a little kid
And how much he acted like me
When he brought his first fish in.

Sun on my head and wood in the shed
Soft nights dreaming on a feather bed
He always lets me stay up past my bedtime.

Visiting my Grandpa

How I love my Grandpa Joe.
