Living Next Door to Alice - Live
Sally called when she got the word
But she said, "I suppose you've heard 'bout Alice"
So I rushed to the window and looked outside
I could hardly believe my eyes
As a big limousine rode up into Alice's drive
Oh, I don't know why she's leaving, or where she's gonna go
I guess she's got her reasons, but I just don't wanna know
'Cause for 24 years, I've been living next door to Alice
24 years just waitin' for a chance
To tell her how I feel and maybe get a second glance
I gotta get used to not living next door to Alice
We grew up together, two kids in the park
Carved our initials deep in the bark, me and Alice
Now she walks through the door, with her head held high
Just for a moment I caught her eye
As the big limousine pulled slowly out of Alice's drive
I say, I don't know why she's leaving, or where she's gonna go
I guess she's got her reasons, but I just don't wanna know
For 24 years, I've been living next door to Alice
24 years just waitin' for a chance
To tell her how I feel and maybe get a second glance
I gotta get used to not living next door to Alice
Sally called back, and asked how I felt
She said, "I know how to help, get over Alice"
She said, "Now Alice is gone, but I'm still here
You know I've been waiting 24 years"
And the big limousine disappeared
Ladies and gentlemen, playing drums tonight
Mr. Steve Pinel!
Playing keyboard, Mr. Martin Bullard!
On lead guitar, Michael McConnell!
On lead voice, rhythm guitar, and exceedingly dark, curly hair
We've got Michael Kraft!
On bass guitar, Mr. Terry Athley!
And playing such a fantastic audience
You guys, you were fantastic! Brilliant!
You guys, come on!
Okay, now we need you to count us back into this
We want everybody, one, two, three, four, five
One (one, two, three, four, five), everybody plays
One (one, two, three, four, five), louder
One (one, two, three, four, five)
One more time, louder!
One (one, two, three, four, five)
I don't know why she's leaving, or where she's gonna go
I guess she's got her reasons, but I just don't wanna know
'Cause for 24 years, I've been living next door to Alice
24 years just waitin' for a chance
To tell her how I feel and maybe get a second glance
But I'll never get used to not living next door to Alice
Now, I'll never get used to not living next door to Alice
God bless you, Campbell City
God bless you, South Africa
God bless you, and good night
Thank you so much
Ay, thank you
