Hypnotized
Hi it's Paul from Mocheeba
Just want to tell you a little bit about the track Hypnotized
Hypnotized started out as a double bass sample groove
With like a hip-hop feel underneath
And then I sent it to Ross and Ross chopped it up a bit
And added some synthesizer and stuff
And then we sent it to Skye and she came up with the top lie
And then I wrote a lyric which was kind of based on the mythology of snaked
And all the kind of weird ceremony
That surrounds those serpents
Um, funnily enough I was watching Breaking Bad with my wife
Which is a programme that we kind of watch religiously
And there was this incredible latin rap in the background
And my wife said, "Wind that back, let's hear that again!"
And we searched it and it was Ana Tijoux
And so we contacted Ana Tijoux and she's a rapper based in Chile
Um, she spent part of her life in Paris I believe
And um, she agreed to be on the album which was incredible
But she was heavily pregnant so we didn't know if she was gonna go into labour
Or whether she was gonna deliver the rap or the baby
Or what was gonna happen
Anyway she delivered the rap and then I think she gave birth
To twins, or something, I'm not sure, like a day or so after
So again, you know, the timing just worked out really sweet
And we were very lucky to have this incredible rap
On this strange, blues, hip-hop track
