Thursday's Child (Live)

This, uh, this little pretty ditty
Is, uh, from a new album that we made called 'Hours'
It's called 'Thursday's Child', Thursday's Child
It's a title not imbued with arcane knowledge as you might think
But it was prompted by the memory of the autobiography of Author Kilt

Uh, when I was about 14, Author Kilt, and D.H. Lawrence
Were some of my favourite bedtime reading
Not just my bedtime, the truth be known, uh
And, uh, I'd seen this paper back in, uh
W.H. Smith's of the Author Kilt life story
And she was standing quite sexily by a tree
With the fields in the background
And it was called 'Thursday's Child'

And that stayed with me since I was 14
I don't know why, but it just kind of bubbled up
The other month when we wrote this
This song I might point out is not actually about Author Kilt

All of my life, I've tried so hard
Doing my best with what I had
Nothing much happened all the same
Something about me stood apart
A whisper of hope that seemed to fail
Maybe I'm born right out of my time
Breaking my heart in two

(Throw me tomorrow, oh, oh) now that I've really got a chance
(Throw me tomorrow, oh, oh) everything's falling into place
(Throw me tomorrow, oh, oh) seeing my past to let it go
(Throw me tomorrow, oh, oh) only for you, I don't regret
That I was Thursday's Child (oh, whoa)

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday born I was (ah, ah)
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday born I was

Sometimes I cried my heart to sleep
Shuffling days and lonesome nights
Sometimes my courage fell to my feet
Lucky old sun is in my sky
Nothing prepared me for your smile
Lighting the darkness of my soul
Innocence in your arms
Oh, no, (don't go throw me out, out, yeah, yeah)

(Throw me tomorrow, oh, oh) now that I've really got a chance
(Throw me tomorrow, whoa, oh) whoa oh, everything's falling into place
(Throw me tomorrow, oh, oh) seeing my past to let it go
(Throw me tomorrow, oh, oh) oh, oh, only for you, I don't regret
That I was Thursday's Child (oh, whoa)

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday born I was (ah, ah)
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday born I was (ah, ah)
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday born I was
Thursday's child (ah, ah)
(Monday, Tuesday) yeah-yeah (ah)
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday born I was (ah, ah)

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday born I was
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday born I was
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday born I was
Thank you very much, this is from our new album 'Hours'
