Discipline

Brothers and sisters
We cannot continue to turn a blind eye to the injustices
That are happening in this world today
Anytime an injustice is committed, we have a moral obligation
To respond to that injustice
My objective is to be an agent for positive change
And part of that change, means to re-evaluate and re-examine
How we are dealing with the issues that directly affect us

As I observe the hate and hearts that break inside, the night snakes
I try to pray and meditate, so I can create my fate
Walk alone, so I can keep my eyes on the prize, the throne
Whether I'm home or not, I got much more to offer
Footnote the author so you can vibe, the zone
Poems and the tones resemble an H in Crohn's
But if the mind ain't ready, the heart is heavy

The guilt that is felt when a brother ain't focused on his health
A brother ain't focused on hisself
Focus the mind 'cause inside in lies the wealth
And rely on the divine to find the help

And then when you shine, you flying high like a vinespell
I strategize, so any opposition melts
I can't do it for them, I do it for myself
Tryin' to win in the end, that's why I need discipline

Ephesians 6:12
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood
But against principality, against power
Against the rulers of the darkness of this world
Against spiritual wickedness in high places"

Y'all worry about the money, I'm worried about a legacy
Never selling my soul, I stand with integrity
And the discipline to focus on the task ahead of me
You getting nothin' less from me, 'cause of my pedigree

Focus and determination, you gotta pace yourself
Stay away from speed racing, you gotta brace yourself
Like your teeth been fixing 'cause the world is wicked
My depiction of life, these are words of advice

For the lost soul looking for guidance, stay away from the violence
Get your knowledge right, street or the college life
Learn yourself before you try to help somebody else
'Cause self-knowledge is the true wealth

When you speak, make sure your words is felt, real and respected
So when you dead and gone, yo' words will live on
Now some people might have heard me, but wasn't listening
Some people don't even know the difference
That's why you need discipline

You just don't get it (discipline), I never said it would be easy (discipline)
But you are here to serve a greater purpose
The fact that you can even stand up and speak out against injustice
Is not going to go over well with your enemy
In fact, they wanna shut you down

So, then no matter what I say, they gon' say it's disrespectful
They only mad 'cause they see that you successful
You can try helping 'em, but it be too stressful
They ain't helping themselves, they so neglectful

For nine years, I knew the flow was something special
I know you'd be proud of me if your pride would let you
Feel like I'm forced to play ball with you, let me correct you
Here's the glove, is you catchin' or you pitchin'?

Now, pay attention, is you talkin' or you listenin'?
I'm too real to cosign, I'm actin' differently
Why give a helping hand just to see him spit in it?
Your mind is weak, your mind need conditionin'

Sharpshooter forgot, sniper in positionin'
Fear ain't shootin', that's when I empty the clip again
Finish every settin', raise the bar when I'm liftin' it
That's called dedication, you got that? You need discipline

No more covering up injustice
Or using official channels to give the appearance of justice
No more lying and blaming the victim
Making them look as if they are a suspect when we know they are not
We must lead by example
We must be unafraid to speak truth to power

I can't rebuttal my verse, so I stick to my words
Literally, I'm the epitome of passion and work
While you tweedledee and tweedledum your words
I spit a masterpiece that'll make a blind man see

Double O-Dshel means trauma and atrophy
Sodom and Gomorrah to these wack MCs
These Indians, they wanna play chief or smoke up
Toys "R" Us, kids, y'all don't wanna grow up

Smoke and mirrors with your Twitter and Instagram pics
Now you see it, now you don't, that person didn't exist
I'm from an era ain't no future in your frontin'
You from an era frontin' your future is nothin'

It's all a dream, like the late B.I.G
Well, my subconscious and nonsense do not mix
I got discipline, disciple to my life and all my rivals
So I tower like the Eiffel, see with a birds-eye-view

It's more debacle, they playing dead like possum
They resurrect the day you gotta shock them, discipline
Life a litmus test, you accountable for success
Don't be a simpleton, it's discipline

We cannot allow the perpetrators of injustice to minimize our outrage
We must aspire to inspire
Live what we speak, and remember
The fight against injustice is not a race, it's a marathon
And we have a long way to go
