The Hammer

In a city known as Old Jerusalem,
Dark and dreary in the early morning,
People gathered there to witness evil,
Driven by anger motivated by scorn,
Pilates order "bring forth the prisoner,"
Eyes behold a stooped and bleeding man,
The innocent takes the place of the guilty,
To complete Salvations plan
Slowly, slowly, were his steps to calvary,
Lone and weary was his final blow,
With a cross up on his bleeding shoulders,
He fell beneath the heavy blow.

Oh what mercy in his final hour,
None that Jesus loved so true.
Just before he whispered
"It is finished" he said
"Father forgive them for they know not what they do."
On a hill just outside Jerusalem
Where the sacrifice was offered down,
He reach his final cruel destination,
And foe me he drank the beating down.

Listen, Listen can you hear that hammer,
As it echos through the empty town.
All the host of heaven must be crying.
God is weeping as he's looking down.

Listen, Listen, can you hear that hammer,
As it echos through the empty town.
All of the host of heaven must be crying.
God is weeping as he's looking down.

Listen, Listen, can you hear that hammer
As it echos through the empty____town____!
