Ophelia (Commentary)
Ophelia is the third track on the album, um
Directly inspired by the story of Hamlet's Ophelia, who um, is spurned by him and loses her mind and drowns herself in the river
Um, nice and happy, uh
So, I kind of took it into the studio, um, with the theme tune from 'True Detective' which is by the Handsome Family
Um, and it's got that sort of cowboy-esque feel to it that I thought would fit really well for this track
Um, so we've lead it all by that but we're still struggling with the first verse, so um, we decided to just completely strip it back
We just had two room mics, um, and I have this terrible old parlor guitar that I got for 8 pounds at a market, um
And just kind of bash out that first bit so it sounds like I'm standing directly in someone's ear holes when they're listening
And then bring everything else in a bit later
Um, but this is another one of my favourites, um, off the album as well actually
I uh, I like the cowboy vibes
