Betty Sue's Cat

This fat sweet little creature roams 'round the house
Looking for a way to get in or to get out
Walks between my legs and cries like a baby
Until it gets what it wants, oh, how I hate and love this cat

Betty Sue can I borrow your cat
Maybe it can help me to forget
The trouble I bear inside
When I look into those true green eyes

Betty Sue is a nice girl who lives door next to me
She really loves her cat, oh you can see
When she gets home late the cat wishfully waits
And purrs satisfied when Betty Sue finally steps inside

Betty Sue can I borrow your cat
Maybe it can help me to forget
How lonely my days were
When I run my fingers through its fury hair

Yesterday I saw big tears in Betty Sue's eyes
She sighed: Where's my cat? Nowhere I can't find it, no
We searched everywhere and finally found it there
Sleeping peacefully under the blanket of her bed
It was the greatest relief Betty Sue ever felt

Betty Sue can I borrow your cat
Maybe it can help me to get
Some meaning in my life, to fill my soul
When I put fresh water in its bowl

Betty Sue can I borrow your cat
Maybe it can help me to get
Some meaning in my life, to fill my soul
When I put fresh water in its bowl

Betty Sue can I borrow your cat
