The One I Have Become

I've come at a cross-roads, must think on my life.
Did it take me to the aims, I had in view?
Did it give me the happiness, at which I wanted to arrive,
Which I was running after, my whole life through?
Can I look back on a well-spent lifetime?
And tell about everything I have done?
And carry my head high in future?
And be proud of the one I have become?

To answer these questions, that I'm asking myself,
I must retrace all the paths, I left behind.
But my footprints are fading and it may be just as well.
There's no sense in keeping everything in mind.
And in looking back on a well-spent lifetime.
And in telling 'bout everything I have done.
And in carrying the past on my shoulders,
That has made of me the one I have become.

The good things and the bad things, they don't matter anymore,
And so are feelings of contentment or regrets.
I rather look at the future, what it's having in store.
What great experiences will certainly lie ahead.
May I look ahead to a well-spent lifetime?
May I live and see great years to come?
May I carry on with all those good feelings,
About being the one I have become?
