The Book

From the back of the book are the twice written pages
A story of two lives aligned
What the words cannot say is here after the day
How the things can't escape once they're stuck in your mind
And oh, I tried

Now the E's that were there as a feeling to share
Are now wrapped up and packed up away
And the look through the phone as the change of the home
When you asked me, you begged me, I wanted to stay

And you asked for the truth but you never believed it
Without pain our life was divine
Ohhhh

And all I had went there with you, and all I am ended with you
But I do now what I always wanted to do
And I do best without you

And you'd only leave when you'd think I was staying
And not clear a space where my body is laying
I can't learn the rules of the game that you're playing
No matter how hard I try
Ohhhh

And how my life will be this time
(Turning away when I wanted to stay)
With faith and latitude resigned
(Turning away now I'm too far away)
Dread the day to say goodbye
And what is real, will find

Now the front of the book with its empty lined pages
A pen there just aching to write
And the string lined between us that holds us together
Will weaken and break if we pull it too tight

And you asked for the truth but you never believed it
Without pain our life was divine

And oh, I tried
And oh, I tried
And all I can say is, oh, I live today
And all that I can say
Is I tried
Oh and I tried
Oh and I tried
