Good Rhymes for Bad Times

There's electric tape around my shoes to prevent them from breaking in two
And there's a crown at the end of my tooth, some royal filler and some superglue

And there are broken things all over my room
Old and borrowed, stolen and used
Instruments that can't hold a tune
I recline on my mattress and become one, too

I've never had satisfaction in the chemical reactions that happen in my head
There are faults in these cracks, they send volts then relax
Then realise the wrong message was sent
It's disillusion, and confusion, this illusion of me
Through this solemn seclusion, and my neurons delusion
I've come to this conclusion that I'll never fully be

In my mind, I can't find an inclination, or a basic impluse for self preservation
So i'll sit here, teetering and waiting for a big gust of wind or some stabilisation
I'm treading water, I'm juggling knives, I'm doing both at the same time
Dude! Put down the blades and swim to the shore line
Well, oh God, I've tried

But I've never had satisfaction in the chemical reactions that happen in my head
There are faults in these cracks, they send volts then relax
Then realise the wrong message was sent
It's disillusion, and confusion, this illusion of me
Through this solemn seclusion, and my neurons delusion
I've come to this conclusion that I'll never fully be
Not fully

I first saw you from my plastic cage
From the wedding band at the back of the stage
In slow motion, you caught the bouquet
In slow motion, I smiled and walked away

Isn't this the same story? We've heard it before
The same melody and the same score
These hairs wont stand up in my pores
These shouts of calamity are becoming a bore

I've never had satisfaction in the chemical reactions that happen in my head
There are faults in these cracks, they send volts then relax
Then realise the wrong message was sent
It's disillusion, and confusion, this illusion of me
Through this solemn seclusion, and my neurons delusion
I've come to this conclusion that I'll never fully be
Not fully
