From the Heart

Took me years to realize I wasn't born to be perfect
No longer living life tryna satisfy every person
Now I'm focused, with intentions of serving a purpose
Of touching hearts and really
Changing people's lives with these verses
Whether I'm only touching one, or I'm touching millions
I'm doing something right, I was taught to be resilient

Did me foul when I was focused and they gave me laughter
Only right I power forward and I rebound faster
Yeah I rebound faster, and I played my position
Heard music was dying, started writing prescriptions
Some won't understand, writing in hieroglyphics
Building civilizations, yeah that's word to Egyptians
But you can't ask for help, I determined what's missing
No more love in this world, we take pride in this killing
Let's appreciate life, never get to re-live it
Some things we can't have, but be grateful we're living
Right

Nothing that I won't do
For the love of you
Everything that I have is yours
Forever

I once compared my life to everybody else around me
Wanted material so nobody could clown me
I was fooled to believe that they really came from money
Not knowing that people would do anything for money
Material hides the fact that they was just like me
But that's the general population, so that's just like we
Now I just might see, that I just might be
More grateful for the things that I finally see

I got my two little brothers, got a mother that cares
Got my father in my life, some people looking for theirs
Lost my grandmother, but I feel her presence is here
My girl been loving me just the way that I am
At my graduation, entire fam in the stands
But not a single person showed up for some of my friends
I lost a few along the way, I met some lifelong friends
Blessed with a talent, so I let that journey begin

And I'll never pretend, I can only keep it honest
Once dreamed of being flashy, but for now I'll keep it modest
Niggas frontin' like they got it, niggas bragging 'bout white
And I ain't never sell drugs a single day in my life
I'll be the first to admit it, man I guess I'm out of place
I can't tell a fraud story for the world to embrace
And now they turning capitals into a lower case
It's sad to say this protesting ain't making a change
