Hay Plains

Way out on the Hay Plains there is no sound
Blue, blue to the horizon, white rocks all around
Wedge tailed eagle up above
Nothing grows out here, no grass, no trees, no love

I guess some things I shouldn't say
But you never listened anyway
It's too hot to touch this ground
And the sun is beating down

Past the mountains it's flat and wide
Dry air, no prickly pear, nowhere to hide
Even time out here is dry and worn
This place will never tell you how far you've gone

It gets you down, like that song Gloomy Sunday
I've gone to ground, this will not be a fun day out
It gets you down, in the country
It gets you down, barren country
It gets you down

You've got a life to lead, but it is without me
I have spelt it out from A to zed and zee
It's all over now, wrapped up nice and neat
For without you, I am so complete

We're here to disappear and leave no trace
Nothing lasts forever except this place
Nothing moving, nothing breathing
Nothing moving, nothing breathing

Nothing moving, nothing breathing
