The Moon Grew Teeth

The city is cold
The streets, devoid of hope
But it's my home
The only one I know...

A lonely light
Shines from a window
Smoke from my cigarette
Curls around my face
Soaked to the bone
As the rain is coming down
The night is lonely
Without a soul

I keep thinking
Where do I belong?
This empty life
Was never my choice

The job I'm working
Is a waste of time
Cheating Husbands
Whoring wives...
Something at the end of the street
Catches my eye
Shadowy figures
Headed down the alley

With nothing better to do
I start to investigate
To my surprise
The alley is empty
The deadend...
Defies rational thought
Something's missing
Because no one came out

A sound
As loud as thunder
As the cellar door
Is thrown wide open

Once they are gone
I move toward the cellar
The door gives way
To a blackness, unfettered

The hollow sound
Of my footfalls going down
Blinded by the black
Cold chills running up my back
Another door
There's something evil beyond
The smell of putrifaction
And stale desolation

The faint light
From the streetlight outside
Illuminates
A scene unreal
Some kind of alter place
Decored in human remains
Bizarre lettering...
In dried black blood

I get the feeling
That I've seen this before
I call the cops
When I get home...
