Living The Dream

Another Monday, another fun day
Another shift at the crazy dream factory
Another morning; spit, shower, shave
Another step along the path toward the grave
I need to break the chains, need to find release
Exploit the niche in the market for my USP
If you need a heavy drinker who can just about stand
After 15 pints of beer then I'm your man

I need to get rich quick I need a sure fire ploy
Working for a living well it brings me no joy

Well it's dragging me down man, it's making me mean
Feeling like a cog in the big machine
Feeling like a prisoner, feeling like a slave
Time to make a difference, time to make a change
You can waste your life following a path you hate
Just to pay the bills and put the food upon your plate
So it's time to take a gamble, live the life you dream
But shooting for the stars is just a scary mad scheme

Want a chateau in the country, need a cunning old plan
No more working for the company, sweating for the man

So I knuckled down to try and catch the sounds
That were swimming in my head and try and lay them down
Then I started writing down some kind of doggerel poetry
Words about the little things that interest or bother me
Song became an album, then two and then three
Flowing out like water, like musical dysentery
And I'm a realist, the first one to admit
That some of them are pretty good and some of them are

Shouting out in the dark, making music in my cave
Looking at the surf, yeah, waiting for my wave

And I'm not looking for fame or celebrity
Don't want to see myself on YouTube or MTV
Radio face, yeah, I'm not a great looker
Like a welder's bench, I'm just an ugly old funker
I can't help myself from doing this you see
Keeping all this music in was very nearly killing me
So I'm letting it out now, I'm letting it flow
Maybe someone else will like it, well you never really know

Shot in the dark, keep on mining this seam
Well I'm living for the music yes I'm living my dream
