What Are We Doing - Commentary
The name of the album is I Don't Believe We've Met
It's brand new from Danielle Bradbury
We've been waiting so long and it is finally available
You can stream it, you can download it
Whatever you do, buy a copy, share a copy, but get the album
And we just heard Potential
And I remember when you first released that song as an early download off your album
Just seeing the support that you were getting from other artists
I saw them commenting on your Instagram
You were posting little clips
For instance, Russell Dickerson, he called it a smash sandwich
Dustin Lynch simply said, damn
So I wanna know, what is it like to now really just be entrenched in the country music community
And having these genuine friendships and love and support of your fellow artists?
You know, it's amazing
And when I saw, I mean, whoever was just making those comments and Russell and Dustin
It was, it's such a, I mean, warm feeling, I love seeing that support
And honestly, it helps me just
I mean, they're amazing artists and for them to say something like that
I'm like, "Oh my god, that means so much to me"
And I remember Russell hearing that song for the first time
Honestly, before it came out, and he was like, "Oh my God, I'm so obsessed with it"
I'm like, "God, that is so cool to hear from you"
And seeing Dustin Lynch say that, I thought that was hilarious
But he, he's so talented and just seeing that support
It really, really means a lot to me and more than they know
So it's really awesome
Well, and speaking of support from other artists, this next song that we're going to play
You co-wrote with a guy who has been a big supporter of yours for a long time (yeah)
I'm talking about Thomas Rhett
You guys wrote "What Are We Doing" with Sam Ellis and Emily Wise Band
So talk to me about your friendship with Thomas and what it has meant to have his support
It means so much
Just having his support and even friendship
I mean, we actually share the same manager, so it's easy to work together and everything
But I still think that's so awesome
And I mean, for him to hop on this song with us was just so surreal and so exciting
'Cause I didn't have a lot of those moments with any other artists
Being on a song that I was going to keep for my album
So I was so excited for that and just having him take me under his wing, kind of
And be like a big brother and give me the advice that he has
Allowing me to be on his song "Playing with Fire"
I'm just, I'm so thankful for his support
And, you know, I mean, they don't have to do that
He doesn't have to do that, but he does (right)
And he probably is one of the sweetest and most supportive person that I've met
So I owe a lot of respect and just everything, inspiration to him
And having him on this write, he had kind of most of this idea
And we were all like, "Oh, my god, this is so awesome" (yeah)
And a lot of people can relate
And he has this kind of different genre, inspirational feel that I do, too
And so the feel of the song kind of has a touch of R 'n' B (yeah)
It was definitely a really fun write, so
Well, and not to mention the fact that he gave you the chance to sing with Nick Jonas
So we love him for that (yeah)
I know, I know
So I'm like, "Gosh, thank you, Thomas Rhett, for everything"
Well, I look at this song as kind of the ultimate game playing song
It's a back and forth and, you know
And it's called "What Are We Doing? People Driving Each Other Crazy"
And you can find it on Danielle's new album, I Don't Believe We've Met
But you can hear it now on Big Machine Radio
