The Game

When I was four years old we lived in the Fox Meadow Apartments
I got a baby brother and poor Jimmy Carter got defeated for president
Back then the highlight of my week was going to the laundry mat
Looking for a quarter to play the game
Looking for a quarter just to play, play the game
I climbed up in the seat of that chair 'til I could see enough
To run from ghosts and push red buttons
I made a little habit of it
Always something missing somewhere out there beyond my reach
Looking for a quarter to play the game
Looking for a quarter just to play, play the game
I got caught up in the whirlwind
Of bygones and has-beens doing the same
Just the same
At the bottom of a deep dark hole I swear I saw something shine
The reflection on the water turned out to be mine
What will I sow, what will I reap, what will I leave behind?
Looking for a quarter to play the game?
Looking for a quarter just to play, play that game
