Taylor the Sailor

When he was a boy he once had seen
The wild ocean blue
Right then he vowed to sail the seas
How little then he knew
He sold his soul for an old canoe
And rowed it down the river
He knew for sure this path was true
Fate surely would deliver

And soon he reached the vast expanse
But even still he wondered
Why nobody else would take this chance
T'was then that he was plundered

For from the foam rose a great big ship
Much larger than poor Taylor's
He jumped overboard, swam through the dip
And climbed to greet the sailors
But as he climbed aboard he saw
A sight he'd never known
The pirates stripped him fully raw
And left him all alone

And as he succumbed to the bitter chill
He pondered once again
Why no one had challenged his free will
To save him from this pain
Then finally he closed his eyes
And sank below the waves
Somehow he never realized
He never could be saved

I found Taylor's old canoe
And now I'm sailing too
I hope to God this path is true
And I hope there's room for two
