Gusts of Green

He wished that he would never die
So that he'd never have to cry
Or feel their pain, or go insane
And as he went to bed that night
In the subtle glow of the warm moonlight
He had a dream, a conscious stream

And in that dream he got his wish
But by the end he felt bewitched
He watched his friends and family go away
He cried in pain and fury hence
The rage he carried was immense
He knew by then he'd led himself astray

Just then his spirit burst with gusts of green
The likes of which he never once had seen
He wished right then for life or death
And nothing in between

Just then he woke up on the floor
And felt the light come through the door
And sobbed a while, just like a child
But then he got up off the ground
And saw that no one was around
And vowed right then to try again

He went around and saw his friends
And tried his best to make amends
So that he'd never have to die alone
And when death finally came around
He felt he wasn't down and out
He was with the people he had called a home

Just then his spirit burst with gusts of green
The likes of which he only once had seen
He knew right then his life was done
There were no in-betweens

His spirit burst with gusts of green
His spirit burst with gusts of green
His spirit burst with gusts of green
His spirit burst with gusts of green
