Venus

The water on the window pane sparkles like the stars
Is the water on my cheeks my tears or just the rain?
Old cathedral silhouettes loom on the horizon
While hand in hand we walk down cobbled streets in a trance

In galleries we sit, content, staring at the art
Regarding the thick strokes of paint, of unmixed colours
We walk, unmixed too, to the chambers of the sculptures
And as I see the statues, you're on the pedestal

Oh Venus, my love
Tell me you won't leave
Tell me you'll hold on
Oh Venus, my star
I miss you when you're with me
I'll love you forevermore

When I look into your eyes I see the black night's sky
And when I see the evening star it calms me to know
That when I wake, the morning star is there to hold me tight
I know that you're close to me, within the depths of space

We hold our breath as the sun comes up, I can't see you
We spin around the same light, the same love, the same star
But you too, are a star through my eyes, shining at night
The European sun soothes me, longing for darkness

Oh Venus, my love
Tell me you won't leave
Tell me you'll hold on
Oh Venus, my star
I miss you when you're with me
I'll love you forevermore

She tells me "I dare you, count the syllables she sings"
But if you dissect it too much, the magic won't hold
Mellow in her lyrics in her voice in the feeling
Of the goddess you adore whispering thirteen words

"I still love you, you must wait for me, I'll wait for you"
"I still love you, you must wait for me, I'll wait for you"
So in a gallery I sit, staring at the art
Staring at all the paintings and the statues of you

Oh Venus, my love
Tell me you won't leave
Tell me you'll hold on
Oh Venus, my star
I miss you when you're with me
I'll love you forevermore

You still love me, I'll wait for you, you must wait for me
