You Shall Be As Gods

Life is but a series of chemical reactions
Elaborated until become self-propagating
Its immediate improbability
Rescued by the stability of intermediate forms
Is sanctioned by incomprehensible distances of time
We ought to abandon the prejudice
That considers life other than a mundane example
Of the indifferent physics of the universe

The outcome remains certain
Of patient titration
Biochemical substrates
Exposed to periodic ionisation
Gleaned from primordial earth
Infects too its nebulous haze
Seeding the cosmos fecund

An experimental method
Condenses the potential of eons
Obfuscating an irreducible truth
Of life inevitable
Disinterested and profane
As one with inorganic processes
Dissipating its birthing fire

Life's variegated scaffold
Paints expectant tendrils
Darkening my flask
Heavy with musk of spoiling flesh

Emerged from the alluvium
Writhing limpid form
Cursed with anima
Born into grief
Considers me a god
Beyond the pity of created beings
As without the lurking appetite of canopy's twilight
Upon the teeming menace of unfathomed depths
I am measured and condemned mere human

Burgeoned upon menace
Redolent with the stench of unredeemed night
Multiple appendages emerged to purpose resolve on its gelatinous bulk
Supporting a cyclopean head
Transfixed in doubtful reverence by the prismatic eye
With psychic proboscides tasting my thoughts and glutting on the terror
Its foetid excrescence emanates a nauseating pheromone of lust
Pious to consume the creator and so attain divinity

Not a god but the food of worms!

Jealous demons emerge from chaos upon the material realm
Repulsed by ceaseless ebullience
Radiated in torrents from the creator God
Infiltrate this their portal
Massed against the Deiopause
Clamouring with vengeful wrath
Despair sharpened with expectation's promise

Discoverer of life I am become death

Wading through seas of ichor
Malevolent rage incarnate
Possesses the void within all atoms
Corrupts each moment before its realisation
Extinguishes life, dissolves matter
Usurps almighty God
