Hashasheen (Assassin)

Silica rain squalls over the caravan
Veiling the sun in premature night
Drifted into forsaken lands peopled with heretics
Jealous for our spoil

Allah, preserve us!

Phantoms materialized
Mounted demons wreak carnage
Venting bloody miasma poured in cries of the butchered
Take courage, stand your ground to face mere bandits
Ambushed through the storm on our blindness!

Raised high the scimitar awaits condensing shadow
Strikes its broadest girth to fell dead the marauder
Resistless sortie besets and subdues
The bitter milk insisted upon soporific silence

Enter the verdant paradise perfumed as a virgin's hair
Where sinuous fountains murmur her mellifluous breath
Skin pale like the gravid moon
Her taut flesh a ripened fruit
Ineffable sweetness, bitterly resolved

Fallen to narcosis
Paradise dreamt
I am forfeit of heaven

The old man of the mountain castes me out
Upon the desolate plateau of scorched Elysian plane
Fevered my body sickens
Its pores exude regret racked with shuddering loss
"By God's will, your salvation is as his hand of wrath"

Inexorable I stalk Baghdad's decadent seraglio
Bereavement and shame foment consuming rage
Surrendered to infinite will
Quenched ambition unsated
Fathomless anxiety trivialised
Pitiless death unleashed
A phantom's guile resistless
Divine justice abjures no abomination
Its piety dreaded forever
I am hashasheen, assassin
