North 28th Street

Nikki and I would ride our bikes down to the liquor store to buy
Junior Mints and Mike & Ikes
And try to avoid getting near the fights
Of all the tough kids, yeah
Those were some rough kids
Our bikes were so unstable with a crate full of Pennysavers on the handle bars

It's so hard to make a buck when you're only ten years old
Try not to get riled up
If you learn to do things for yourself you might just get a big reward
So keep your chin up

Nikki and I would play pretend on the big limbs safely
Within the old grapefruit tree
When we were young on North 28th Street
They called it the Greenway Square
It was so rough there, but
We laughed at all the danger and delivered little newspapers until the weekend

You're not just a half-sister you're my whole friend

It's so hard to make a buck when you're only ten years old
Try not to get riled up
If you learn to do things for yourself you might just get a big reward
So keep your chin up

Nikki and I would play pretend on the big limbs safely
Within the old grapefruit tree
When we were young on North 28th Street
