To the Girl Who Found Me

To the girl who found me
I use to think that my greatest fear was dying without leaving my mark
Without being remembered or having a legacy
But loving you has made me realise
That my greatest fear is knowing a world without you again

I was raised to want a girl worth fighting for
But I found one who fights for me
And It's like my eyes have been closed my whole life
And your kiss opened them
To the depths of beauty this world
Hides from the loveless

I feel like this is what Narcissus felt when he first laid eyes on himself
An overwhelming sense of glamour as if beauty incarnate was born
Before his very eyes and the puzzle pieces of life shifted into place exactly right

I'm indebted to you

I am indebted to you because the world I found
Behind your cocoa brown eyes gave me vision
Made me see as if for the first time and muted colour gradually grew vibrant
Sorta like the quality difference between snap on an android and snap on an iPhone

And I hear your laughter like I see colour; in dark hues and vivid tints
Shades of joy wafting through the air like the northern lights
Nothing could be so beautiful

I found love in your gorgeous mahogany complexion
Which had to be melted over your not so delicate frame to create such beauty
Your hair, which coils dark and stubborn crown your head
Like the earth of the motherland so I know I'm home

And I am in awe of you
The girl who makes me smile simply by existing
Who corrects me when I'm wrong
Because she knows my betterment is more important than my pride
The most stubborn human who absorbs my weaknesses and strengthens my strengths

So if you were to leave today
You'd take my heart with you
Broken or otherwise
I belong to you wholly
