As long as I remember I was awkward
Like something too weird to explain on a chalkboard
Like even talking about a chalkboard is awkward
To explain it right we have to go backwards.

All my life I've never felt quite alright

First time I kissed a girl, we were teens
We liked each other lots, but I was so green
I was dropping her off, parked in her driveway
I leaned on over, the distance felt really far
But my chance to kiss her was with us in this car
I knew it was time, I knew how she felt
But as it turns out, she was unbuckling her seat belt
The buckle banged right into my face
My lips swelled and it bled all over the place
Her dad was watching us from the front door
He had a chuckle...
Because I kissed a fucking seat belt buckle

My awkwardness goes so deep that it's microscopic

Like head to the left or head to the right?
Like do I squeeze or let it be?
