The Exodus (Leaving Egypt)

I was working in the country tending to my flock
When some way off a fire caught my eye
When I turned aside to look to my surprise
Someone called my name and then they cried
Holy ground is here remove your sandals and don't draw near
Holy ground is here you have been chosen to stand here
God's word to hear

I hid my face I could not look upon my God
He said the cry of My children has reached Me
I have seen the oppression of My people
So I'm sending you to Pharaoh to set them free

I said; who am I to go and speak Your words to Pharaoh
I'm nobody he does n't even know my name
Who am I to lead these people You have chosen
If it all goes wrong I'm the one who'll get the blame

Moses I will be with you
Moses I will guide you through
Tell them I AM, I AM say I AM
Has sent me to you

The elders and the people all received God's word
Excitement spread as they heard what God had said
But when we came to Pharaoh he said who is the Lord
And why should I obey any of His words
Cos I am King of this land I hold every life in my hand
I am mighty lord of all before my armies nations fall
And surrender all

As time went on God sent the plagues to afflict the land
But Pharaoh's heart remained so full of pride
Finally God struck every firstborn in the land
Then Pharaoh rose and cried out in the night
Moses leave now go and serve the Lord
Take your children with you
I never want to see your face
Take our silver and our gold plunder all our treasures
But take this people of yours and get away from this place

Moses I am with you
Moses I will guide you through
I'll never leave you nor forsake you
I'll be with you every step that you take
