Petrichor

The scent of cedar goes nice with cigarette smoke
So I don't mind that my pencil point just broke
I like the cold touch of steel in my hand
As I carve away those things that I can't stand

The scent of coffee helps sweep away the fog
As Ernest barks at the neighbors fuckin' dog
I like how memories fill those bottles on the floor
And how the gloom always reeks of petrichor

I like how birds get so quiet when it rains
Them singin' all damn day makes me insane
And in the morning, when the bugs are quiet too
Thats the kind of day that I sing my songs to you

This old guitar and me don't get along
He points out all the notes that I get wrong
But he always likes to sing when it pours
The harmonies just drenched in petrichor

My neighbors pass me by like I'm insane
Just a singin' on the front porch in the rain
But these kind of days I couldn't ask for more
Just to sing along to songs of petrichor

Yeah I guess thats what rainy days are for
Just to sing along to songs of petrichor
