Promise of the Rain

Raindrops fall, sweep across the window pane
Wonder why, the Great Beyond hides His face, behind the clouds
Moments ago, His presence lit my back with warmth
Now cold drips down, loneliness soaks through my skin, deep within

But the promise of the rain is that the garden will grow
Love sprouts up anew, deep within my hardened soul
The case of rock wrapped round my heart shudders and cracks
No thing of the world has strength to hold Him back
Nothing shall prevail
His power is as gentle as the rainfall

The heaving storms, He quiets in my soul
Fear and doubt, they mist away, smoothing, soothing, cooling
Even in the dark of rain, I know that He is by my side
The clouds that lie low, are nothing more than His embrace

For the promise of the rain is that the garden will grow
Love sprouts up anew, deep within my hardened soul
The case of rock wrapped round my heart shudders and cracks
No thing of the world has strength to hold Him back
Nothing shall prevail
His power is as gentle as the rainfall

Naught is left, within me save to glorify
My soul no longer cleft, free to lift Him high
With one voice, and one heart, and one soul, to lift Him high

Cuz the promise of the rain, is that the garden will grow
Love sprouts up anew, deep within my hardened soul
The case of rock wrapped round my heart shudders and cracks
No thing of the world has strength to hold Him back
Nothing shall prevail
His power is as gentle as the rainfall
