Rockstar Wannabe
(Let's do this)
(Yeah)
Follow me as I lead you through the day to day
In the shoes of a rockstar wannabe
He got the look, and the moves, and the boy can sang
He got the band, and tunes, he got everythang
It started way back before his pubes had start to grow
An overweight kid who escaped in to his radio
He loved his music, but couldn't play an instrument
And it'd' be 3 more years before he'd even try to sing
Eighth grade he was joking with some friends in class
Which lead him to RadioShack with a little cash
Bought a cheap microphone to plug in to his PC
Locked himself in to his room man, and all he'd do is sing
He'd sing and scream along to his favorite videos
He got the scream down, yeah, but couldn't quite hit the notes
In high school started his first band and booked his first show
And since then he knew that he'd wanna be on the radio (Yeah)
Yeah baby I'm just
A wanna be rockstar
I'll never quit the dream
So I can get real job
Cuz all I need is my voice
A beat and some guitar
Yeah baby I'm just
A wanna be rockstar
Practiced and played out throughout his freshman year
He was determined to turn this hobby of his to a career
Jumpin from one band to another over a couple of years
Then something happened in his life that forced him to switch up the gear
He lost his cousin, his best friend, at the age of sixteen
Another musician, but a rapper is what he aspired to be
So he dropped the guitars and he picked up the beats
And he went solo assuming the alias of Godd Lee
The feedback wasn't bad, but it never clicked
There was even a moment when he thought he should quit (He should quit)
But he pushed on solo and kept writing tracks
But rap wasn't doin it he needed half stacks
Almost 21 he put together Scarlet Carson
Put out a rock record, started playing tiny bars and
Strip clubs, holes in the walls, and Irish pubs,
Chasing the radio dream and working his way up
Yeah baby I'm just
A wanna be rockstar
I'll never quit the dream
So I can get real job
Cuz all I need is my voice
A beat and some guitar
Yeah baby I'm just
A wanna be rockstar
Now halfway to half a century of age
He's gone from opening to bookin headlining dates
Sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in the game
He's got all the pieces, just trying make a name
So whys he stuck here, when it seems he's got it all?
Everything it takes to make it even writes his own songs
He's trapped between his rock and having no place
Cuz at this stage of the game rock n roll doesn't pay
And no it ain't no secret, he wants the money and the glory
But mostly he wants the world to remember his story
He wants the unlikely stars, to know that it can be done
If the sky ain't enough, then you can aim for the sun
Look at this former 300 pound kid who couldn't sing
Still a virgin at 20 and now he's living his dream
Playing packed out clubs, women screaming his name
A fat lonely wannabe flipping the game on its face, bitch
Yeah baby I'm just
A wanna be rockstar
I'll never quit the dream
So I can get real job
Cuz all I need is my voice
A beat and some guitar
Yeah baby I'm just
A wanna be rockstar
Yeah baby I'm just
A wanna be rockstar
(I'm just a wannabe)
I'll never quit the dream
