Girl on Mars

There's a girl on Mars
She watches all the stars
And she wonders why
She can never find a guy
Her friends went to Earth
To be closer to the surf
Now she's left by herself
All alone on the shelf

Nothing left to see but repeats on Red Planet TV

There's a boy on the moon
He sits in his room
There's nothing outside
Just some bits of junk and an American flag
His dad found lying in the backyard

And he wishes finding the right girl wouldn't be so hard

Saturday dance at the Galaxy Romance Club
The Pluto wall flowers are sitting there for hours
The local space cadets mingle with the gym leaders
While the boy and the girl are sharing margaritas

The girl on Mars is a real debutante
The boy on the moon has got nothing to lose
He's a real bon vivant
s'il vous plaît
mon cheri
c'est la vie

Sunday Neptune is home to the big game
Everybody thinks that Jupiter can nail it
But the girl on Mars and the boy on the moon
Have got better things to do

Who would have thought that the girl on Mars
Who's not the kind of girl who'd hang around in bars
Would date a boy from a lesser neighbourhood
But you know that he made good

They got a nice apartment on the quiet side of Venus
And after a while she got used to his dialect
Now the boy and the girl are happy in their own world
Both astronomically happy in their own world
Universally happy in their own world
