W.Y.O.S

2019 March Madness
18 years old with a passion (passion)
I kept to myself while they was laughing
Grinding with my pops, was never slacking (no days off)
Since they wanted to sleep I let 'em keep napping
Couldn't hang out with me 'cause I
Was putting my dreams into actions (yeah)
Early morning late nights whatever's necessary
Focused on myself, forget the crowd, ignoring commentary (shhhh)
Have some fun, man you lame, that's what they all said (all said)
I wasn't worried, I knew Christ, I was never misled (yeah)
I wanted it so bad so I had to get it alone
Didn't have much of a team, my goals ain't match with they goals
And if they did, we approached them much different
I put in work to increase my odds
Making sure I wasn't slipping (working)
No I ain't perfect (I ain't)
So please don't get it twisted (don't do it)
I'm walking on this earth, but I'm tryna fulfill his mission (yeah)

Never forget one day I was told
Sometimes you got to be about your own
(And write your own story)
I remember talking on the phone
Thinking to myself how did this all go wrong (my story)
Yeah I remember chilling in my bed
There was nothing good was running through my head (story story)
But I ain't forget one thing I was told (nah nah)
Sometimes I got to be about my own
(Ahh ahh) so I'm writing my own story

I had a hard time playing the game that I love
Three head coaches in four years, which one am I supposed to trust?
Could never get the vibe (vibe)
Could never get the flow (the flow)
High expectations faded quick just like when the wind blow (whew)
So now I'm stuck, I ain't got that many options
I'm just reach the next level, but I got no scholarships (nope)
I ain't got no offers, man it's getting tough
I was praying that a coach could
Find this diamond in the rough (please)
Transferred my last year to a new school
13 seniors on my team, and new coach too
But we was great, we was ranked, conference champs but not state
We had fun when we played, but it ended one day yep (yep)
March 10th, I said well that's over (I'm done)
I ain't get no luck, ain't no four leaf clover
I was sad as i cried on the shoulder of my dad
But little did I know that God still had a plan

Never forget one day I was told
Sometimes you got to be about your own
(And write your own story)
I remember talking on the phone
Thinking to myself how did this all go wrong (my story)
Yeah I remember chilling in my bed
There was nothing good was running through my head (story story)
But I ain't forget one thing I was told (nah nah)
Sometimes I got to be about my own
(Ahh ahh) so I'm writing my own story

Got one opportunity, you know I took it (I did)
Had to book my own flight within a week, so I got to it (zoom)
I got a spot, but I still wasn't satisfied (no)
Not out of pride, but I had to keep the motivation alive (yeah)
Had a rough start, I thought it wasn't for me(uh uh)
But it got better over time, things cleared up, it got sunny (sunny)
I worked and I earned (I earned)
I read the Lord's word (I did)
I prayed everyday, and got a gauge as I learned yeah (yeah)
The team balled out (out)
Even the full scout (swish)
Won some games and made history, got a 'lil clout (ha)
Getting big rings, rocking hats with the nets (uh)
Advancing through tournaments, not worried about who's next
But we knew wasn't done yet, we had more to give (uh)
We wasn't do it for us because through Christ we live (we do)
I encountered the experience of a lifetime
I trusted the process, worked hard, wrote my own and in due time I

Never forget one day I was told
Sometimes you got to be about your own
(And write your own story)
I remember talking on the phone
Thinking to myself how did this all go wrong (my story)
Yeah I remember chilling in my bed
There was nothing good was running through my head (story story)
But I ain't forget one thing I was told (nah nah)
Sometimes I got to be about my own
(Ahh ahh) so I'm writing my own story

So I'm writing my own story
