Over the Hill

I've seen many changes since I was two or three
I remember watching snooker on a black and white TV
I nearly drowned I do remember as a wee boy far from shore
But now I'm closer to the grave than I have ever been before
With a weathered face and a weary smile
And a head buried in the past
Well I've made my way up the dizzy slope
But now I'm over the hill at last

I've lost count of people that I've met in the workplace
Sometimes it's hard to put a name upon a face
And though I try hard to remember, if I am out of luck
Well I can always call you mate if I am absolutely stuck
Oh my memories are on the wain
But I'll make some new ones fast
Cos I've made my way up the dizzy slope
But now I'm over the hill at last

With a strum and a whistle and a song and a dance
And a heart beating far too fast
Well I've made my way up the dizzy slope
But now I'm over the hill at last

I've seen many places but still many left to see
But I have found that all that's best in life is free
And though I wonder how much further that I can even roam
I left a piece of me in all the many places I've called home
With a strum and a whistle and a song and a dance
And a heart beating far too fast
Well I've made my way up the dizzy slope
But now I'm over the hill at last

I'm getting older and I feel it in my bones
I've left my youth and now have children of my own
And though the way they run around can make me feel I'm old and done
Well the sparkle in their eyes can make me feel I'm twenty one
With a hop and a skip and a jump for joy
As they go running past
Well I've made my way up the dizzy slope
But now I'm over the hill at last

With a strum and a whistle and a song and a dance
And a heart beating far too fast
Well I've made my way up the dizzy slope
But now I'm over the hill at last
