This Land's Son

You see the tourist images of mountain tops and glens
But the nation's character is in our family and our friends
It's in the things we care for and the very words we say
Like how's it gawn big man, how's your day?

Oh I know a man can follow seasons in the sun
Searching high and low for a land of perfection
Well I'm getting older but my work has just begun
Oh I'm not just of this land, I'm this land's son
I'm not just of this land, I'm this land's son

We can build a better world if we should so decide
Accepting all the different people with good old Scottish pride
But if you're looking for an answer or for someone to believe
Be mindful of agendas hidden in sleeves

Oh I know a man can follow seasons in the sun
Searching high and low for a land of perfection
Well I'm getting older but my work has just begun
Oh I'm not just of this land, I'm this land's son
Well I'm not just of this land, I'm this land's son

Is it our pride, is it our humour, well we can long discuss
There's no official answer because it's up to each of us
I may bag a munro or tour the highlands in my car
Or scale the dizzy heights of Mount Florida

Oh I know a man can follow seasons in the sun
Searching high and low for a land of perfection
Well I'm getting older but my work has just begun
Oh I'm not just of this land, I'm this land's son
I'm not just of this land, I'm this land's son

Well I know a man can follow seasons in the sun
Searching high and low for a land of perfection
Well I'm getting older but my work has just begun
Oh I'm not just of this land, I'm this land's son
Oh I'm not just of this land, I'm this land's son
Well I'm not just of this land, I'm this land's son
