Bird Strike

The heavy air of morning cold
My lungs can't open freely
I guess invincibility
Is nothing that exists in me

I should have set a parking break
I've overshot this time
Do I have to bail out already?
Say you can keep me in line

And like a bird loses its head
By spinning blades all sudden
Thoughts of death strike down my mind
I should've seen them coming
I feel crooked I feel useless
I want to fly but I've lost my drive
And if it wasn't for the ones I love
I wouldn't have the strength to stay alive
You are the reason that I am alive
You are the reason I have survived

I appreciate the highway drives
Now that I lay in sheets
I miss the cold gray clouds and rain
And I've forgotten how much they mean

Haven't been airborne for once
But it feels like my wings have been cut already
Still my feet lose all their grip to the ground
Keep me in line I lose my heading

And like a bird loses its head
By spinning blades all sudden
Thoughts of death strike down my mind
I should've seen them coming
I feel crooked I feel useless
I want to fly but I've lost my drive
And if it wasn't for the ones I love
I wouldn't have the strength to stay alive

You are the reason that I am alive
You are the reason I have survived
You are the reason to go on
You are the reason to stay strong
