Safehaven
Drove fifteen hours with my family to Myrtle Beach
You loved the ocean but you couldn't stand the heat
Me and my brother shared a cooler with our own drinks
And we felt like grown ups then, didn't stop to think
Seven days in the hospital and you swore there was nothing wrong
Tried to talk some sense into you but you were so far gone
You should've seen your face when you found out it was me who stole the wine
I couldn't have prepared for all of, the things we leave behind
Me and my best friend playing guitar on the street
The Virginia Boardwalk with a tip jar at our feet
A woman stopped and smiled and listened to us play
Then she dropped us a four-leaf clover, we still talk about that day
At our first concert and they played your favorite song
Got lost in a punk-rock crowd we were wearing out our lungs
But I felt an energy that I'd never felt before
And I wanted to be a part of it, so we practiced a little more
These days it's quieter and I mostly keep to myself
I try not to focus on any past that I can't help
But the night is young and there's a certain sadness in the air
And I can feel it calling out to me, like it knows that I'm alone in here
Have you ever felt desperate when you're holed up in your bed?
When the bad shit that you've done has tunneled through your head
Have you ever felt starting over is impossible and that the only way
Out of this mess is in a plastic bottle above the sink and it's all okay...
It's all okay... my head's been pounding louder but it's all okay
Cause me and all my friends we took the day and we're gonna celebrate
Every mold that we couldn't break, we're often born to desecrate, but every time you told me
It's all okay... my heart is beating faster but it's all okay
Cause me and all my friends we've got the day and I'm gonna find you
Just to talk awhile like we used to
There's a Safe Haven we can run off to
Where I have saved a space... for you
You loved the ocean but you couldn't stand the heat
Me and my brother shared a cooler with our own drinks
And we felt like grown ups then, didn't stop to think
Seven days in the hospital and you swore there was nothing wrong
