Famous Cities

I don't feel sorry for people in famous cities
They can walk down the street and have adventures like on TV
They can walk into a meeting with special reserve seating
And exist in a moment that is powerful and fleeting
They got keys to the kingdom, they have a voice
They'll never understand the ennui of we the hoi polloi
They'll never grasp it that we pack the plastic
That all their hopes and dreams and desires are wrapped in
They don't have to write down numbers and addresses
Even with a lover hella space on they mattresses
They want to be models, actors and actresses
Oh tristan's making assumptions about the upper middle class again
Don't feel sorry for people in famous cities
They perpetuate a narrative where WE are not existing
Even their tragedies have beautiful soundtracks
The rest of us just wandering until we have found that

So I don't feel sorry for people in famous cities
That's why I don't feel sorry for people in famous cities
So homie don't feel sorry for people in famous cities
Because I don't feel sorry for people in famous cities

I'm not as humble as I should be
I don't bumble like a good bee
I don't mumble when I could be
Wondering what it should be
I'm not one for shoving pushing
Or for reinstalling bushings
I tend to let the machinery
Eat me with the scenery
As we take it easily
The struggle comin' eerily
This is aging This is persuasion
This is abrasive this is self-effacement
This is the situation, I'm not half the man I'm 'sposed to be
Half my life I've mused on aftermath of what is close to me
Truth is there is end no denouement
All there is is time's reminders that it will take you out
I wish every thing I've done in life would make you proud
Like most I'm just trying to escape the crowd
I don't have a good conclusion just another sloppy human
Who tries to create music that's creative and amusing
And the truth is the I.E. ain't full of famous cities
So our attitude's no pity we just tryna make 'em listen make a difference

Why?
I'll tell you why

They got coffee and nonprofits
And the donors and the sponsors
They got monster crime stoppers
All their paperwork is proper
They have TV camera media
They're covering the meteor
The visionary's come to town and everybody's meeting her
They have the eye of the world, the mind of the plural
What grand design will they find to unveil
Their kind never fail
They finding us frail
My area to them the nearest clearance retail
They have interventions and global conventions
Bodegas and stoops and lofts with the nice view
They might just invite you for lime-tinted haikus
Dog parks and people ones
Bigfoot and the nephilim ignoring to your detriment
They have the world's sentiment
They're in your thoughts and prayers
Ain't we breathin' the same air?
Where's our program for the felons for the little girls and fellas
Who's embellishin' the rhythm for the children I will build it
So I do feel pity for cities with problems honest
But I'm focused on my hometown cause they got people on it
I promise
