Be Like Him
If someone were to ask me, tell me about you
The answer would be, that I am a Jew
But what does it mean, that I'm different than them?
I'll tell you my friend, I want to be like Hashem!
The way that I act, the way that I walk
The way that I work, and the way that I talk.
My life is thought out, I don't act on a whim
There's only one goal, I want to be like Him!
I want to be like Hashem, to give and to give
To do things for others, it's a reason to live
To help other people, and provide for their needs
It's a mitzvah called chesed, the greatest of deeds
Even if we are living, in such dire straits
The goal is to emulate, His character traits
I can grow, I can change, and while I'm alive
To become like Hashem, for that I will strive!
A Yid is defined, by the way that he acts
Does he have sensitivity, does he speak with great tact?
Does he notice other people, and lessen their pain?
Does he lend them a hand, when their strength starts to wane?
I'll share what I have, 'cuz it's not really mine
It's a loan from Above, for a day at a time
I'll reach out to others, no matter when
In that way I try, to be like Hashem
I want to be like Hashem, to give and to give
To do things for others, it's a reason to live
To help other people, and provide for their needs
It's a mitzvah called chesed, the greatest of deeds
Even if we are living, in such dire straits
The goal is to emulate, His character traits
