January

We tossed our pennies in
They sailed through the December wind
When life was all around and
Hope was in the air

Well the Christmas lights are down and
Now we're deep in January
With ice holding the ground and
The snow storming on overhead

And I don't have much else to say
Words are hard to find
Maybe I should go back to bed

And even more I don't know what to think
The world has worn a different face
What will still remain
It's a cold, cold winter's day
Out the door past the trees
Far from home overseas
On this Earth as we sail around the sun

When it all comes to a close
I'll try to be a better man
Dressed in summer clothes
Cause I know
I'll be there when it's June
When it's June in the air

We tossed our pennies in
I wished that this would be our year
And I guess it was
