The Tale of Alice (Live From CCS)

Mrs. Nelson never let her daughter, Alice, put to play
Instead she kept her locked up in a cage
But Mrs. Nelson let her son go out nearly every day
And he wouldn't come back home 'till very late

But Alice got her dinner and Alice got her sleep
And Alice got her books and education
And though she never misbehaved
Her mum kept her inside that cage
'Cause she was worried of Alice's relations

Alice begged and pled but her mum would always hush her
She said life in the cage was so much better
But Alice just wanted to be free like her brother
Though it seemed that her mum would never let her

But Alice got her Christmas gifts and Alice got her cake
And Alice got her birthday celebrations
And though she never misbehaved
Her mum kept her inside that cage
'Cause she was worried of Alice's relations

"Please" the children say
"Won't you let Alice come out?
We've got so many fun games that we could play
Please... we want to her all about
The playground and the ice cream shop
Now wouldn't that be gay?"

Now Alice is much older so her mother did decide
It was time to open up the cage door
But Alice saw so many horrid scary things outside
So she rushed back to her cage forevermore

But Alice gets her shelter and Alice gets her tea
And Alice gets her warmth and relaxation
Her brother still goes out most days
But Alice stays inside her cage...
'Cause the world is full of anger and devastation
She'd rather not deal with all those complications
