There To Stay

Silence grips their throats
The mass struggles and chokes
Just to take a breath
Seated on a post
Looking towards the coast
Hoping for the best

There's a man outside
With a cigarette in his hand
There's a man inside
Who is looking to form a band
There's a man at the shore
Lying with his head in the sand
And he waits for the day
When somebody is there to stay

Filters in their head
Hearing what they want instead
Just to make it through
Days when eyes are red
And you're nailed into your bed
When you thought you flew

You can see how he walks
With his face buried in his chest
You can see how he talks
And by the way he is dressed
He can hide but he knows
Even that won't let him rest
So he waits for the day
When something is there to stay
