Deity Awaits

You think they spun my thread to a top degree?
This grain of sand in an ocean?

I could fall asleep while the building burned
I could laugh in the face of a gunshot

The same old string for a smuggler or queen,
But mine made different
...or so I've been led to believe...

A Mother superior, who could orchestrate my grief,

Don't lecture me with this,
You've been coy but boy I've had enough of it,
When they're hell bent on the power,
We flinch and cower from the claws of a dove,
Who needs fate when deity awaits?

You think they spun my thread to a top degree?
This grain of sand in an ocean?

I can sit and dream while the children gurn,
Or I could craft myself into someone,

But don't lecture me with it,
You tell the truth until I feel afraid again,

With toxic smoke inside your lung,
You got the guts to say we're done?
Sharpen claws of a dove,
A perfect day of lacklustre pain to come and find me smug
